Funny News: The Impact of Episodic Gaming

April 19, 2006: The Impact of Episodic Gaming

GameDailyBiz has a piece up looking at what episodic content is, and what it means to the future of the games industry. From the article: "Our age is one of aging. Mainstream gamers are now older on average than they have ever been. When you are single and unemployed, it is easy to play The Godfather for nine straight hours the day the game hits the shelf. When you are married, it becomes tougher. When you have kids, it might be impossible. It is difficult to slice some time for yourself. And in that slice, you have to carve a portion for gaming. It is no wonder casual games that require no more than 10 minutes to play continue to grow in popularity. This is why we are more likely to login to Call of Duty 2 on Xbox Live to play a quick five-minute Team Deathmatch and leave the Lobby."

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Preview FunnyGames, July 9, 2007
...Quake Wars takes the Earth vs Strogg conflict seen in the second and fourth Quake games and fills out the backstory. While those previous games had you taking on the Strogg on their own planet, this one goes back to when the Strogg first invaded Earth. Now, for the first time, you'll play as a full-on Strogg soldier or as a GDF defender and will battle it out for control of the planet...

...The game is being created by UK developer Splash Damage under the watchful eye of id Software; previously, Splash Damage was simply a mod team, but later on they got the chance put together the multiplayer mode for Return to Castle Wolfenstein and then created the very popular free online shooter Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Funny Games (2007) The Movie FunnyGames, March 20, 2008
Director: Michael Haneke
Writer: Michael Haneke
Genre: Thriller / Horror

Quote from IMDB:
"Back in 1997 German director Michael Haneke made Funny Games, a disturbing and thought-provoking thriller that toys with the viewer's place as a voyeur. In 2008, the re-make, also directed by Haneke, debuts with an all new cast and this time in English. The problem is that it is essentially a shot-for-shot, line-for-line, verbatim re-shoot. This makes watching this film pointless if you've seen the original, or unnecessary to watch the original if you're planning on seeing the 2008 version. And despite those pesky subtitles that often upset American audiences, the original's authenticity and casting is surprisingly superior."

Plot Outline:Two psychotic young men take a family hostage in their cabin.
