July 24, 2007: Metal Gear going Online (PS3)The first details and gameplay footage of Metal Gear Online for the PlayStation 3 were pulled out of the hat today at Konami's Metal Gear 20th Anniversary event in Japan...
...The game will be a kind of hide-and-seek for up to 16 players at a time, and is called a "strategic multiplayer experience." It will feature the SOP system which allows players to keep track of their teammates via nanomachines injected into their bloodstream. The nanomachines allow them to see where the rest of their team are, their condition, which way they are aiming, and their range of sight. Enemy soldiers can also be injected with nanomachines, which will enable the other team to then keep track of their movements...

The best-selling game for the PSP platform has been Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. The game, Developed by Rockstar, has sold more than a million copies on the platform in the US since it was released in October 2005, generating more than $51.3 million in revenue. The game's runaway success caused it to become the first game ever that was ported from the PSP to the PlayStation 2. For older gamers with fond memories of the gems that graced our consoles (and computers) in the 80s and 90s, Xbox Live has been a dream come true. Retro titles that may otherwise been impossible to find, have slowly been popping up on Microsofts service boasting interesting new features and enhanced graphics. Last weeks release of the Bitmap Brothers classic take on the future of sports, Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe is no exception. In addition to sporting more teams in league play, some light RPG elements, and new enhanced graphics, also on the table is multiplayer support over Xbox Live. For fans of retro gaming it rarely gets better than this.
Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe is one of those fun pick up and play games that doesn't require memorization of a lot of controls or is bound by overly complex rules. As one of two teams your goal, quite simply, is to throw a ball into the goal to score. Points are also garnered by injuring players, hitting targets around the arena, and collecting powerups that can give a much needed boost during some later frantic league matches.
