Funny News: Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Preview
July 9, 2007: Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Preview...Quake Wars takes the Earth vs Strogg conflict seen in the second and fourth Quake games and fills out the backstory. While those previous games had you taking on the Strogg on their own planet, this one goes back to when the Strogg first invaded Earth. Now, for the first time, you'll play as a full-on Strogg soldier or as a GDF defender and will battle it out for control of the planet...
...The game is being created by UK developer Splash Damage under the watchful eye of id Software; previously, Splash Damage was simply a mod team, but later on they got the chance put together the multiplayer mode for Return to Castle Wolfenstein and then created the very popular free online shooter Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. PS2: Final Fantasy VII Dirge of Cerberus preview FunnyGames, September 5, 2006...After a variety of lackluster games, Square-Enix must have decided that it was time to try a daring merger. And since they probably had some extra Advent Children FMV lying around, it made sense to dive even deeper into the now eight year-old Final Fantasy VII cash cow. A few tie-ins and cameos later and we have got Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII, a first/third-person RPG action mash-up starring Vincent Valentine, a somewhat peripheral character from the original game.
...And after clocking a good ten hours of Dirge, at least four of which were spent watching cutscenes, I'm done with it. Square-Enix makes quality RPGs and pretty FMV, and I hope they are content to bow gracefully out of genres they obviously have little reason to meddle in. Leave the emo-shooters to Dante and just peep Advent Children again if you need a fix.

The first details and gameplay footage of Metal Gear Online for the PlayStation 3 were pulled out of the hat today at Konami's Metal Gear 20th Anniversary event in Japan...
...The game will be a kind of hide-and-seek for up to 16 players at a time, and is called a "strategic multiplayer experience." It will feature the SOP system which allows players to keep track of their teammates via nanomachines injected into their bloodstream. The nanomachines allow them to see where the rest of their team are, their condition, which way they are aiming, and their range of sight. Enemy soldiers can also be injected with nanomachines, which will enable the other team to then keep track of their movements...
