Funny News: Settlers II remake announced
June 12, 2006: Settlers II remake announcedUbisoft has announced it's going back to its roots with a new edition of the 10-year-old classic, Settlers II. The game will feature up-to-date 3D graphics, but the gameplay focus will be the same as the original. Players will have to combine economical acumen with prowess in battle to successfully develop their population, with three races to choose from: Romans, Nubians, and Chinese.
The game, set in an approximation of the 5th century BC, will feature 31 different buildings, 25 carriers, 5 military units, and 31 types of goods to manipulate, across 10 single-player campaigns. In addition, the game will ship with a random map generator and multiplayer modes and...

Alone in the Dark Review FunnyGames, July 14, 2008Many gamers are going to buy Eden Studios' Alone in the Dark and instantly take a liking to the game's all together different approach. The episodic format, the highly stylized cinematic set pieces, the HUD-free presentation, the first/third person gameplay, the 1:1 analog controls for two-handed weapons... there's a lot of forward-thinking stuff to latch on to. However, no matter how enthusiastic the gamer, all will eventually be given pause. Maybe it's a car getting inexplicably lodged in some invisible part of the environment. Maybe it's a needless death because the camera didn't catch up to the action quickly enough. Maybe, just maybe, the game will even crash and take with it any progress you've made in an episode. ...ProStreet is light on game modes. You can play a quick race, start a career, or play wirelessly via ad hoc or online. We were never able to find more than three people online at a time, and none of them ever wanted to play. Career mode contains the bulk of what little value the game has...
++Good: 32 different cars. Cars show and react to damage.
--Bad: Career mode is nothing more than a succession of races. Controls are terrible. Extremely poor sense of speed. Race types are nothing special.
